Kenneth Brooks brings a wealth of musical expertise and extensive experience to his role as the Director of the Cleveland County Choral Society. With a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Gardner-Webb University, a Master of Arts in Education from Appalachian State University, and School Administration and Supervision Certification from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Ken's educational background forms the foundation of his impressive career.
Ken's journey as a choral conductor began in 1977 when he assumed the role of Choral Director at Crest Senior High School, where he dedicated 31 years to nurturing musical talent. Under his direction, Crest choral groups consistently received Superior ratings at State Contest Festivals, performed at esteemed venues including the Biltmore Estate, and even earned the Grand Champion title at the Fiesta-Val Choral Festival in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Beyond his tenure in public school music education, Ken has served as an adjudicator for NCMEA Choral Festivals and conducted All-County Clinics in several North Carolina counties. He's been a guest clinician at Bonclarken Summer Music Camp and is an active member of professional associations, including the North Carolina Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.
Ken's dedication to music and teaching didn't stop at the school doors. He faithfully served as Music Director for churches throughout Cleveland and Rutherford Counties for 40 years, contributing to the spiritual and musical enrichment of the community.
In 2001, Ken assumed the role of conductor for the Cleveland County Choral Society, where he continues to share his passion for choral music and leadership. His extensive experience, combined with a deep love for music and community, makes him an exceptional guiding force for the society. Ken Brooks is not only a skilled conductor but also a revered educator and leader who has left an indelible mark on the world of music and the hearts of those he has touched.
